About Denise Meredith Dip.WP (Inst.WP)
People have asked about the name “Sponsalis”. Quite simply, it means “betrothal” in Latin, and Denise chose it because of its aptness and the fact that it seemed to roll off the tongue. Here’s a little about Denise:
Denise Meredith had her first foray into business when she was 10, selling champion conkers to her school friends and revealing her entrepreneurial streak. Whilst at college she managed to get herself onto the Committee as Social Secretary and was responsible for booking bands and even running the weekly disco – this lead her into volunteering for Radio Lollipop for a while. Over the years Denise has organised all types of events from Summer Balls to Christmas Parties, various motorcycle rallies (including stepping in at the last minute at a forthcoming rally after the previous organiser let the bike club down), meetings both large and small as well as an international conference. Denise is a born organiser:
“I have always loved organising events and enjoy seeing the wonderment on people’s faces – I can remember a student ball that I organised when the students were starting to wonder how to get home and I assured them that everything was fine as I had arranged for black cabs to be outside.”
Denise was made redundant in 2007, but alternative employment was slow to come, and she started to seriously think about using the skills that she had used to organise events in the past, and in particular weddings. Denise studied for and achieved an HND level diploma in Professional Wedding Planning in August 2009.
During the past year, Denise has either organised or had a hand in organising a number of weddings, both at home and overseas. Her philanthropic streak has come to the fore on several occasions when dealing with young brides on a very tight budget as Denise cannot bear to see anyone disappointed, especially on the most important day of their life.
But that’s not to say she can’t drive a hard bargain. Denise often uses the hard negotiating skills learned during her time as a union official in the past to get the very best deals for her clients.
A great believer in strategic alliances, Denise has formed a great number, including an arrangement in Gran Canaria, where she can now offer weddings. In closing, Denise has this to say:
“Aside from organising weddings and corporate events, I make Italian Bomboniere favours to match your colour scheme.”
Which of course means there’s nothing more to be said…
